Cowden, Illinois (click photo for details) Cowden Police Department Officer Jeremy Hubbard End Of Watch : 08-10-10 Officer Jeremy Hubbard, 35, was killed in a vehicle crash at approx. 2015 hrs while in pursuit. Ofc. Hubbard, who had a ride-along with him was assisting the Altamont PD in their attempt to stop a truck when he control of his Patrol Cruiser. The vehicle flipped several times and he was ejected. Jeremy, a 3+ year veteran, was airlifted to the hospital where he was then pronounced. His 22 year old passenger was treated and released.
This vehicle had been pursued for more than 2 hours by several Departments on and off while the driver crossed into several jurisdictions at very high rates of speed. Numerous attempts were made to catch this idiot before he killed someone. Officer Hubbard was one of those who was determined to get this driver and risked his life in order to save an innocent's.
Jeremy leaves behind his high school sweetheart, wife Trisha and their two children, Dylan,13 and Jordan, 8. Mrs. Hubbard said that 'Jeremy died doing what he loved. He lived for it and that their dad was everything to their children.' Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to Trisha, Dylan, Jordan and the entire Hubbard family as well as to all the Men and Women of the Cowden Police Department.
Jeremy, you were given that special soul that has the courage to wear the badge. You lived your young life showing your children, your peers and the People of Cowden what a Hero is made of. Your heart was all about your family and this job. Please be assured that your family will be looked after and that We will never let you be forgotten.
May you rest with peace once your Brotherhood finds this fool who brought on your death. We pray you watch over the hunters and wrap them in protection and lead them from above. As you patrol the golden streets of Heaven ... We will take up the watch from here. God Bless you Brother Jeremy.

The driver and vehicle have not been apprehended. The driver is described as being a short/stocky man. Dark/olive skin/ dark hair. The vehicle is a full size red Dodge diesel pick-up truck with a raised chassis and over-sized wheels with no license plates.
